Mommy Needs A Calgon Moment

[ad]

Holidays come and go so fast. We just returned from spending the holidays with with family out of town and now I’m like WOW I feel exhausted. I still need to take down all the Christmas decorations. I have family here in town that I still need to deliver gifts to and the kids, well that’s simple THEY ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY!! I love the first week of winter break with the kids because we are so busy and excited getting ready to the big night when Santa comes. But the second week of winter break is a killer. Even with all the new toys, gadgets and gizmo’s my kids find irritating me much more entertaining. My teenager is bored and would like money and mom’s taxi service to run her and some friends around. My seven year old refuses to share any of his new toys but is more than willing to play with the younger kids toys at free will, without asking. My youngest hasn’t touch any of her new toys since we got home, she is more interested in driving mom totally nuts. And Jackson contrary to most days, is the easiest right now. He is entertaining himself with the wide varieties of new movies Santa brought.

I watch the clock tick by waiting for it to hit 4:30 when daddy gets home. I feel guilty as I know he has worked all day but I can’t wait the minute when I can hand the kids off to him. I’m looking for just an hour of peace and quite without interruption. It’s crazy because I know that if I just take a deep breathe, relax a little and focus on the kids they would calm down. I hate days like this.  I need to do so much yet I’m just running in circles not accomplishing much of anything. My only hope at this point is that tomorrow will be better. Whoever said motherhood was easy was lying!

Christmas On A Very Tight Budget

[ad]

I am really starting to feel the Christmas pinch this year and I must admit I’m a bit sad. Now I’m no stranger to a tight budget for the Holidays but somehow I always manage to pull some thing together just in the nick of time. I know I have a few more weeks but I will tell you my brain is tapped out.  I am avoiding the malls, heck I’m even avoiding Wal-Mart as I know I can’t buy the things for my kids that I would like let alone the things that they really need.

At this point I have to think homemade. I just inherited a sewing machine and once I figure out how to actually turn it on I plan to make some homemade bed sets for the kids. I have been hunting ads for blow-out bargains on material. I am also going to make each of my kids an Arts-n-Crafts tote of their own. I’m fed up with lost scissors, empty tape and hard glue not to mention the broken crayons and dried up markers. So I found these totes with handles at the $1 store and I’m going to fill each one with glue, scissors, crayons, markers, tape and I’m even throwing a stack of sticky notes in there so they quick using mine up! As for family and friends I plan to give a tin of baked goodies.

I would love to hear some of your homemade or handmade gift ideas, please I am in desperate need of HELP!! Well maybe not as desperate as the Mommy Pic below but I am getting close. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!!

My dear friends,

Somewhat embarrassing to admit, I’m not getting an annual bonus and
Christmas is tight this year. I will be making bedroom slippers for you
all as gifts. Please let me know your sizes. You’ll most likely agree
that it’s a splendid idea, and should you wish to do the same, I’ve
included the instructions below.

How to make bedroom slippers out of maxi pads:

You need four maxi pads to make a pair.
Two of them get laid out flat, for the foot part.
The other two wrap around the toe area to form the top.
Tape or glue each side of the top pieces to the bottom of the foot part.

Decorate the tops with whatever you desire, silk flowers (this is most
aesthetically appealing), etc.

These slippers are:
* Soft and Hygienic
* Non-slip grip strips on the soles
* Built in deodorant feature keeps feet smelling fresh
* No more bending over to mop up spills
* Disposable and biodegradable
* Environmentally safe
* Three convenient sizes: (1.) Regular, (2.) Light and (3.) Get out the Sand Bags.

Submitted by Amie – my number one contributor, supporter and sister-in-law.

Thanks for the laugh!!

Those Not So Precious Mommy Moments

[ad]

As I mother I know that there is nothing more precious that my children. Only our children can create those magical moments we share with family, friends or co-workers and it’s those moments that get us through difficult times at home, a long day on the job or an illness we are fighting with all our might. I enjoy all the long “ghost under the bed” conversations and the make believe cupcakes baking in the fisher price plastic kitchen. But some of my most memorable moments with my children haven’t been so precious.

Permanent Sharpie Markers

Permanent Sharpie Markers

This not so precious mommy moment was taken the night before my daughters first day of preschool. Yes her make-up was beautiful, I just wish she would have chose washable markers instead of the sharpie permanents!!

I let this be a Daddy Moment!!

I let this be a Daddy Moment!!

This is a classic example of my son Jackson’s fascination with toothpaste. To all the autistic parent’s out there, I know you will appreciate this picture. This is one of those mommy moments I gladly passed on to Daddy!!

To all the mom’s and dad’s or grandma’s and grandpa’s I salute you. Keep those not so precious moments close to your heart. When your day seems like it just keeps getting worse reflect on those special moments and take comfort in the fact that things could be worse.
